The Last Straw

My post birthday post will have to wait as I vent on a totally different subject. The subject is the school district in which my children attend. We have been going round and round with the district in regards to getting Tony the appropriate help that he needs. We are tired of fighting so we have hired an advocate for him. He has been doing very well with his advocate sessions, so she requested a meeting with the school to teach them some strategies that she would like them to try. I forgot to mention that she requested this meeting over 2 weeks ago, and the school district has yet to be able to find a time that works for a meeting. If this is not bad enough, on Wednesday Tony went to school and came home with a startling revelation. One of the kids in his class told him he was a vampire and bit him on his head. I was beside myself listening to him tell the story of how this first grader came up to him, gave him a hug, and then bit his head!!!!!!!!!!!!! What The F@#k?????? On Thursday, Dad decides to confront teacher and teacher says, "I had no idea that happened." AGAIN, What the F@#k???? So now I am PISSED!!! (Sorry mom, I know you hate that word.) After talking to the teacher, dad calls the special ed coordinator.
Dad tells her in no uncertain terms, he needs her to call him back on Monday or Tuesday with answers. I have no respect for his teacher at all. Anybody who knows Dad can vouch for his "reactive nature". Usually at meetings I am kicking him under the table requesting that he hold his temper. Well guess what?? This mom is pissed (sorry again mom) and has given dad the okay to unleash on the school. Mind you the last time he "unleashed", he had the the school psychologist in tears and banned from working with Tony. It should not be this hard. We should not have to fight to get Tony the services that he needs and is entitled to by law. I don't think the school district is ready for this. As any of my children will tell you, "You don't mess with a Hunt". This my friends is truly the last straw.

SuperMom Celebrates 48th Birthday

by Jen Hunt

March 20,1961--Peter and Elaine Slaynasky celebrate the birth of their new baby girl,Jill Anne Hunt. These extraordinary people had no idea that they gave birth to the superhero of today's world known as "SuperMom."

Today, SuperMom spends her days sans cloak, but still fighting against the bumps and bruises that her husband, six children, two bulldogs, three fish, two snails, and three shrimp seem to acquire on a daily basis. She takes a stand against swearing profusely, sibling violence, extreme pigstys, and late curfews.

Behind SuperMom's tough stances is a woman who can ease any heartache, diagnose any illness, and sleep through any television show. Her children look to her for guidance in all areas of life and she never disappoints. Through tears and giggle-fits, SuperMom has helped guide her kids from being ordinary to exceptional.

Though she seems indestructible, many ask just what are SuperMom's weaknesses? In this reporter's research, I was only able to uncover one huge obstacle in SuperMom's path. This evil is unlike any other and is certain to come around once a week. SuperMom cannot escape it. . . What is it? How will SuperMom deal with this evil this week?

This evil villain is just a day away. The villain, known as "SND" (short for Saturday Night Dinner) looms just over the horizon. SuperMom's vigilance against cooking Saturday nights fell short last Saturday as she prepared dinner for four of her children, but how will she fair this week?

Only time will tell. Today, though, we can all feel safe and secure as SuperMom celebrates her highest birthday yet (much to her chagrin). Thank you, SuperMom, for all that you do. It is this reporter's hope that you enjoy all of your suprises today.

Happy Birthday Jeffrey Peter Hunt

So no pictures right now, but I wanted to jump on here really quickly and wish my fourth born a very happy 19th birthday. Ah, your last year of "teen hood". Sorry for no pics right now, but I am working on a computer that has vista and can't figure out how to post the picture.......remember people, I am seriously technologically challenged. Jeffrey, you have been our family comedian from day one. We used to joke when you were little that you would be the next Jay Leno. You have made me laugh at times when I thought all I could do was cry. I thank you for that. I can honestly say that you win the award for testing my patience on a daily basis. I thank you for that, too, it keeps me on my toes. You are an incredible musician, and I truly hope that one day all your practicing will pay off and you will be able to afford whatever it takes to repair my broken eardrums:) I thank you for that too, not the eardrum part, but seeing the drive you have. Now if you could only harness some of your musical energy into picking up after yourself........ Seriously Jeff, I am so incredibly thankful for the gift of you. Having one special needs brother would be hard enough, but you have three and you handle it with such style. The time you spend playing games with Tony and Brian just melts my heart. I love the little setup you have with Steve for lunch, "Hey Jeff, if you drive us to get lunch I will buy." (Priceless and quite clever) Jeff, I hope this year is a great one for you. I love the fact that you portray your tough guy image to your friends but I have the honor and privilege of seeing the tender side of you. Okay, I will quit embarrassing you now and just end with I love you and am here for you, and will always be here for you. Happy 19 Jeffrey!!
Love, Mom AKA Team Lead Jill

NO MORE RED

As everyone is aware, I work for Target. You would think since our required dress is red and khaki, red would be a welcomed word for Target managers. You would be wrong. Two years ago the logistics process at our store was placed on the red focus list. This is a BAD place to be. Being on this list means being micromanaged to the point where you want to scream. It means lots of extra big wig visits with lots of "todo" lists after the caravan leaves. It means lots of hard work, sweat and tears to get off that list. Every decision is followed with, "Are you sure?" When I went to HR and told them I needed to turn my entire staff to get the job done, they reminded me that Target doesn't like to fire people. Fire? Who said anything about firing? I call it a mutually agreed upon pursuing other career options choice. Nearly two years ago I was hired at Target not knowing what I was getting myself into. Two years ago when they blindly asked, "Are you afraid of heights? Can you repeatedly lift over 40lbs? Any issues with ladders?", I innocently replied, "Uh, no." Fast forward to February 7, 2009. I am sitting in my office just about to leave for the day when the store manager comes in. "I don't know if you are ready for this, but we are OFF THE LIST!!!!!!!!!!" We both gave each other a high five, and I left that office feeling so proud. All my hard work, dedication, and planning had paid off. All the decisions I was questioned about were the right ones. I can not take all the credit for this. I have a team in place who work their butts off for me. I have a team of peers who respect me and my decisions (they'll tell you just don't make the Jersey girl mad). I have a store manager who will stand up to the Jersey girl and remind her to have a work/life balance. I also have a family that I adore and have put up with a very tired momma at the end of a day. It would have been so easy to give up. I will admit there were times when I questioned my own decisions and drive. Nobody but me understands what yesterday meant. Here's to no more red:)
